Welcome to my Creative Mind
Posted by TammyJo Eckhart |
I write in several genres ranging from historical fiction to science fiction, fantasy, contemporary, and horror. Others have labeled what I write as erotic literature. I believe what I write is the truth about how human beings and their societies work; the truth about the power and role of sex in our lives, our fantasies, and the world; the truth about our weaknesses and strengths, our fears, and our hopes. The truth isn't always nice; it isn't always pretty. Sometimes it's violent; sometimes it's a challenge; but the truth is always the truth.
My mother, herself an author, taught me to "write what you know," so most of my work involves strong women and the caring men who love them. My work also looks deeply at systems and relationships where survival is the first step to thriving in your life. My work includes a wide range of human combinations and sometimes supernatural combinations. What is revealed in each story depends on the truth I'm telling and what is appropriate for the characters involved. I never include information or description merely for the sake of a higher word count or to titillate. None of my scenes, dialogues, or events will make you feel like you have wasted a moment of your time.
Most of my stories look at issues of power and authority because these are threads that have always been and always will be important in all human relationships. Currently, I have published stories in the following genres: science fiction, fantasy, horror/vampire, contemporary, and historical. In all of them, my focus is on the characters, their interactions, and the changes they go through and how everything they experience, including but not limited to, sex or sexual desire plays a role in changing lives. If that sounds interesting to you, please check out my work listed below. If you click on the books, you'll be taken to another page where I discuss what is in the book, how I wrote it, and what I hope the reader will take away along with a few snippets of text.

At Her Feet, Second Edition |

Almost Partners Joanna McMillin may be at the top of the Gaia hierarchy, but she has survived loss. First the disappearance of her twin brother at the behest of her own mother, then the murder of her soon-to-be wife, Judy. Offered a chance to make a real change in the world, she must choose to bend her ideals to save her brother and get revenge — or continue living in her moral glass house and watch injustice prevail. Scott has never had many choices in the worldwide matriarchy, but now he has met the Scion of one of the world's greatest families. Can he convince her that he's more than a means to her end and find a way to turn his nightmare existence into a brighter future? Their choices will lead them down the path to something that hasn't been possible in almost a millennium; a partnership between females and males. |

Day Unto Night A Sumerian child named Ningai survives the murder of her entire family and cries out to her people's gods, who answer her prayer in an unexpected way. Now, as the first of the Akhkharu, the living dead, Ningai embarks on a journey across the millennia to rebuild what she lost. The best of her offspring must maintain some shred of goodness to prove worthy to their Child-Mother while fighting the deadly impulses of their kind. Join their journeys across time in a series of interconnected stories from the earliest cities to a brutal future where humans are mere pawns in the hands of near gods. Like all of us, Ningai and the best of her children will stop at nothing to protect her family. Can they succeed before they lose what's left of their humanity, or will all of humanity become enslaved to the Akhkharu forever? |

Beyond the Softness of His Fur Omnibus When driven and dominant executive Emily Potter is promoted within her company, the bosses make it clear that the promotion comes with certain expectations: she is to purchase herself a morph — a customizable animal hybrid that is both sexual pet and status symbol. Emily's personal tastes require a very unique set of specifications for her morph. Emily desires a male pet that is both exotic and submissive — yet all of her expectations are exceeded with Wynn, a beautiful white fox morph with a desire to please his new Master and an unusual intelligence that intrigues her. But the soulful wisdom that makes Wynn so special is a challenge to the morph-culture status quo and could ultimately spell disaster for both Master and pet. |

On 28 March 2020, I launched my Patreon account! There I will talk about my writing (including the process itself), about being a femdom and living in a poly household, thoughts about science fiction/fantasy/horror media, and topics related to my field as an ancient historian (I've posted several things already)! Depending on your subscriber level, you can have an opportunity to contribute to the creation of new stories, participate in educational workshops, get sneak peeks of upcoming works, or other special rewards! Over half the tiers are $25/mo or less.
- Growing Up Femdom is a post I was invited to write for The History of BDSM website reflecting on various movies and television episodes that had an impact on me as a developing female dominant.
- The Mark is a horror, science fiction short story about a doctor caring for a unique patient. Previously available on another site, I will be posting a Patreon version for my subscribers so that they may continue to enjoy this story.

Book Reviews
I am a much sought-after book reviewer and receive between four and eight books each month to read and review. Not only have my reviews appeared on Amazon and the sites of individual books, but I worked as the featured book reviewer for KinkyBooks (no longer in business) for several years. For six years my reviews have been collected and used by several kinky organizations around the USA.
A note about ebooks: I do not accept ebooks for review because I do not have a dedicated ebook reader.
If you have a book you'd like me to review on Amazon, contact me and I will tell you how to send it to me.
Here are some examples of my reviews that have been published by the New York Journal of Books:
- How to Mellify a Corpse
- Sweetest Kiss: Ravishing Vampire Erotica
- Darkness: Two Decades of Modern Horror
Books received directly from authors and publishers go directly to the top of my pile, but do note that I have a backlog of books, so you'll need to be patient. Also realize that I will be honest in my review. If it isn't good, I will say so.
